Islamic P&I Club (IPANDI) is a non-profit marine insurance provider established among 57 Islamic countries to offer liability coverage for shipowners worldwide. Officially formed in 2004 with backing from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Organization of the Islamic Shipowners’ Association (OISA), IPANDI was endorsed at multiple high-level Islamic conferences. Its headquarters is in Dubai, with additional offices in London, Athens, and Jakarta, and it operates through 425+ correspondents in 125 countries.

IPANDI offers a broad range of services including Protection & Indemnity (P&I), Freight Demurrage & Defence (FD&D), Charterers’ Liability, War Risk, and Hull & Machinery (H&M). The Club aims to match the standards of established global P&I clubs, offering shipowners a cost-effective and comprehensive alternative, particularly across Islamic nations.

Strategically, IPANDI focuses on decentralization, cooperation with top reinsurance firms, and capacity-building for loss prevention. It promotes fair treatment of its members’ vessels across ports and encourages insurance companies in member states to support its framework.

Recent growth includes deeper engagement in Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean, with VIMC-ARIES—a partnership between Vietnam’s state-owned shipping giant and a local maritime consultancy—appointed as its representative in Vietnam. IPANDI holds a BBB rating from Muhanna & Co., renewed its Panama Maritime Authority approval, and is recognized by the General Arab Insurance Federation. The Club has earned repeated industry recognition—nominated 11 times and awarded 5 times as Marine Insurer of the Year by The Maritime Standard (TMS). Other accolades include Marine Insurer of the Year by Robban Assafina in 2023, reinforcing IPANDI’s rising global stature.
